Ubud Go Cheap was a great accidental find online. The family-run business, led by the friendly Small Nyoman, went out of their way to accommodate our requests. We only had 1 day in Ubud and wanted to see as much as possible. Normally people do a tour in the East part in 1 day and a tour in the West, on a separate day. After emailing Small Nyoman several times, we picked and agreed on 5 destinations and went cross-country: Jatiluwih – rice paddy field – largest in Bali Old Temple at Batuan Village Goa Gajah (elephant cave) Kintamani – lake with volcano Goa Gajah (elephant cave) Petulu ( Heron Birds ) The price doesn’t include lunch or entrance fees, however it was good value, for a hassle/crowd-free sightseeing experience. Small Nyoman’s uncle looked after us throughout the day. He was very knowledgeable and shared history and facts during the very comfortable car journey. He was a good judge of our moods and energy levels, offering to accompany us to some places if we wished and also stepping back and leaving us to it when applicable. He took us to a less touristy buffet restaurant for lunch which overlooked the Kintamani lake. Unfortunately, due to the morning rain, the view was completely obscured by the mist. Sensing our disappointment, Small Nyoman’s uncle amended our itinerary and included a visit to a coffee bean plantation where kopi luwak (civet cat coffee), coffee and tea are made. He then took us to Tegalalang rice paddy field before we went to see the herons and then a quick stop to Monkey Park before we went for dinner. All in all a great day out, made all the better by the service.
